Detailed Description: All of my art is unique, a one of a kind experience. Each of my pieces begins with a rolled out slab of white stoneware clay. I form a functional plate or vessel and that becomes the canvas for my sculptures. Each piece goes through at least two and as many as five firings until it matches the painting in my mind.
I have been a teacher in Poudre School District for 12 years. The whimsical influence in my work comes from spending my days with 9 and 10 year olds. Their clear, unabashed view of the world is a constant source of joy for me.
Originally from Maine, and now landlocked in Colorado, my yearning for the ocean is often reflected in my art. My artistic influences range from Dr. Seuss to Wassily Kandinsky. I like to superimpose my imagination on a place I have visited. My memories become a part of the piece.
I have been a potter in Northern Colorado since 1992.
