Excerpt: Listed below are some cone 10 reduction glaze formulas recently used at ASU. Several I modified and tested, several were developed by students in Kurt Weiser's ceramics classes, and some are ASU studio glazes. If you adjust the formulas, please let me know about your results. If you use the formulas, I'd like to see digital images of your favorite results. Inquiries welcomed. The ASU cone 10 reduction kiln is a 70-foot, downdraft, gas-fired car kiln.

Sondahl Pottery Glazes: These have all been developed out of over 1000 tests for the Cone 8-10 oxidation range. They have not been tested for food suitability, but all are lead-, barium-, and cadmium free. Drop me a line if you find one you can use...

I spent several weeks mixing and creating tests just to load a kiln, and came to terms with the fact that “shotgunning” 30+ different bases doesn’t get you anywhere as fast as you think.
