I am a figurative ceramic sculptor/artist and an emmy award winning graphic designer with a masters degree from Pratt Institute in New York and an MFA (ceramics) from UCLA, Los Angeles, CA.
I use the human female figure or the canine to explore affect, the abject and archetypes. The imagery is meant to stimulate thought and provide a sense of connection by activating the familiar within one’s personal unconscious. I am drawn to issues concerning mortality, isolation, absence and desire. I question systems of belief surrounding gender (e.g. religious patriarchies and cultural standards for beauty) that routinely create and perpetuate personal as well as cultural discord. I intentionally combine elements of attraction with repulsion to represent our struggle with the opposing emotional forces of cognitive dissonance.

Home to the work of ceramic artist Cameron Petke, Baked Clay Studio features ceramic bells and a love for unglazed surface finishes and alternative firing techniques. While the inventory is always changing and each piece is one-of-a-kind, the photo galleries represent the type of forms and surfaces currently being explored.

My work is the outcome of many years of looking at both figurative and abstract sculpture as well modern architecture and of course pottery. As a potter I have a keen interest in bowls from small tea bowls that fit into your hands to large sculptural bowl forms. Hope you enjoy my work....
