Description:
Excerpt: So I recently got interested in slip casting ceramics. I was lucky someone gave me 35 plaster molds for free. After playing with them a little and getting some modest results, I have learned that one crucial step for good slip casting is to have high quality slip. If the slip good, then making a cast will be much easier. However, using the purchased slip in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box leaves a lot to be desired.

    Hi, Josh and Andy-

I attended Ontario College of Art 1978-1981, and the moldmaking instructor Angelo DiPetta used an old ringer-washer for slip. It worked beautifully. We'd turn
the agitator on for maybe 10 minutes before slip-casting class, and the lid prevented any splashing. I believe he actually mixed the claybody components in
there. I don't remember if he used the hose/pump, but I think that he probably didn't because too much slip would have been delivered (and too fast) for our
purposes. Back then these machines were cheap (I found one on the street)!
