Greetings all.
Steve here. I live in a small city about an hour out of Melbourne in Australia, my partner and i own a new age shop with my pottery studio in one of the large back rooms within the shop. i have been throwing for about 25 years now, but have only just found it again after nearly 10 years off and i have a whole new love for the craft once more.
it amazes me that i have lost only the finer details of what i knew when i was a production potter at the bendigo pottery making a zillion things a day,and really being at the top of my game and loving every minute of it.
so now that i'm having fun with my stoneware again,i thought that i might open up my studio to anyone that would like to try their hand at throwing, so i did, and the response was almost overwhelming, now i'm holding day classes, six week courses, and have had to buy 3 more venco #3's.
the thing is,everyone who comes to the studio nearly always says the same thing to me,which is .. iv'e always wanted to do this but never had the chance or means etc. now, i have almost a dozen that have purchased their own wheels, kilns etc,to keep it going at their homes involving their partners, kids and so on.
pottery is truly a craft that not only amazes people, but it inspires them.
iv'e never been more satisfied being able to pass on to anybody willing to have a go all the knowledge that i have regarding this wonderfull craft.
sorry for the long winded rant, but its so refreshing to tell like minded people things they already know.
keep it in the middle
Steve
