    Default Hello from SW GA.

I wanted to say hello and ask if there is anyone here glazing on bisque tiles and firing them? I'm getting crazing. It only shows up after they are fired and when the tiles get wet.

I like to talk about art. I work in many different mediums so maybe I can help you too.

Talk to me you tile makers! Scout

Glazes act differently when they are on a vessel compared to when they are flat. To avoid the crazing, fire as normal to mature temp, but then let it cool down about 40-50 degree C or 100-120 degree F, and then hold for 30-60 mins. Eg, Fire to 1150 degree C, hold at 1100 degree C. If you already have the problem, a solution is to refire to max temp and hold at lower temp, and this will fix crazing. If it doesn't then you'll have to study up on other remedies which relate to clay and/or glaze adjustments, but this does not help any current problem.
