Way back in 1975, I had taken enough course and wheel work at the Univ. of Miami to decide ceramics would be my career path. I had all the equipment and supplies, even had studio space selected, but then I was offered a reporter's position at a local radio station and that set me on a broadcast career lasting more than 30-years. It was more than 20-years before I touched clay again.
Flash forward to 3 months ago (August '11). My ex-wife purchases a small paint-your-own and working pottery in North Georgia... and then gives me a 50% interest in the business, with the idea that I will run the working part of the pottery and we'll both have a retirement vehicle. And, to answer your obvious question, we are far greater friends now than we ever were when married!
And so, I am finally embarking on a career sidetracked back in '75. I'm back on the wheel, recovering my groove, and again utterly fascinated by the medium. I still consider myself a rank amateur but have an enormous curiosity and capacity for learning.
Glazes are my primary weakness, so count on seeing me online with LOTS of questions!
Feels great being back in the mud!
