Pit firing and smoking

I am blessed to have a studio in beautiful country surroundings, about 3 hours from Cape Town, South Africa. Two years ago I started teaching the basics and of course learning as we went along together. My passion is pit-firing and I have just done my 3rd pit-firing which I thought was a disaster and was ready to call it a day and take another direction .. until the only surviving pots were sold two days later! So encouraged once more, I plog on. My handbuilt forms are created mostly by coiling and pinching, to experiment with surface techniques. I would love to hear from anyone else interested in this exciting technique.
