Hello, all! I live in northwestern Argentina, where the vast majority of potters do pit fired terracotta, a few work at cones 04-05, and only 3-4 of us do stoneware. However, I believe I'm alone in producing my own clay mixture (local red clay added to Patagonian kaolin + finely powdered grog, both these last imported at considerable expense from Buenos Aires). I also make my own glazes from scratch. All my pots and sculptures are hand built (never managed to centre anything bigger than a demitasse coffee cup on the wheel), and as my sales prices cannot compete with local terracotta, I survive on teaching English. 68 years old, have been involved with mud since age 11.
