    Default Firing plates

Is it possible to put a piece of wet clay under a plate while it is glaze firing to keep the plate from sagging?

Default you do not want to put wet clay in the kiln

    Hi Barbara,
It is not a good idea to put wet clay in any firing, bisque, or a glaze firing. The wet clay will blow up. Unless you are talking about putting very small pea sized amounts of clay.

    Plates are technically challenging!
My recommendation to you if your plates are sagging is to make your plates thicker, test different clay bodies and find one that does not sag, and make your rims slightly thicker to give your plate more strength.
    Good Luck,
    Andy
