Assistant Professor, Visual Arts (Ceramics)
STARTING DATE: August 16, 2011
DESCRIPTION: The Visual Arts Department invites applications for a tenure-track position in Ceramics at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates must hold a MFA degree in Ceramics, and have an active professional exhibition record. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential, and candidates with university or college teaching experience beyond the graduate teaching assistantship are preferred. The successful applicant will teach six courses per year, including all levels of undergraduate ceramics, and selected courses in sculpture and 3-D design. The candidate will be responsible for maintenance and development of all aspects of a 2000 square-foot ceramics facility, consisting of electric, gas-reduction, salt and wood-fired kilns. Other duties include participation in standard departmental and university service.
