Inspired by nature handcrafted ceramics of organic and earthy quality from sculptural forms to functional pottery. <br /> <br /> &quot;My strongest inspiration comes from Mother nature and its influences on the shape of plants and animals, trees and rocks, both on land and underwater. New techniques and forms continually stimulate my interest in clay. The process of integrating various media with clay, like metal wire, stones, sand and wood to create dynamics has a great appeal to me. My favorite firing method is raku but I also use high fire with reduction process and oxidation process.<br /> <br /> Each piece is hand-built or thrown on a wheel and finished with food safe glazes exept raku. Raku ceramics by their creative process and their very nature serve only for decorative purposes and are not intended to be used for food.<br /> <br /> I am a member of National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, Clay Artisits of San Diego, San Diego Art Institute, Association of Clay amd Glass Artists of California.&quot;

As Pomona’s only clay center, The Ceramics Studio at AMOCA strives to make ceramics accessible to the surrounding California community. By providing classes on all levels of experience and offering a place for professionally minded artists to work, The Ceramics Studio hopes to encourage the appreciation of ceramics within our community. Along with classes, this facility will host visiting artist workshops, lectures, gallery exhibitions, and educational programs to share with our resident artists, students, members of AMOCA and the general public. Founded in 2001 and opened in September 2004, AMOCA is one of the few museums in the United States devoted exclusively to ceramic art and historic innovations in ceramic technology. It is located in an area abounding with ceramic history and internationally recognized clay artists from the Arts and Crafts Movement, the 60's Clay Revolution and the current Studio Pottery Era. It is the mission of the American Museum of Ceramic Art to educate by presenting, collecting and preserving significant ceramic achievements of the world's cultures from ancient times to the present and through aesthetic and technical study to develop a deeper understanding of cultural values and traditions.
